Return to Campus

The nearest testing location to HArts is at Gardena High School. If your child needs a COVID-19 test to return to school, please make an appointment there.

Los Angeles Unified has released its Return to Campus Family Guide, which includes information on health and safety preparations at schools, COVID-19 testing for students and staff, COVID safety protocols and detailed instructional schedules. You can read the full LAUSD Family Guide here
 
Requirements for Students to return to campus for the hybrid program:
  • Students must take a COVID test prior to returning to campus. All students should schedule a test the week of April 19 by going to: DailyPass.lausd.net

  • Daily health check prior to entering campus & temperature check
  • Students need to wear a face mask while on campus, maintain social distancing and wash hands often
 
What is HArts New Bell Schedule?
The new bell schedule will become effective the week of April 26.

Advisory

 
What does Online-Only Model look like?
  • Students will continue to learn online similar to how students are currently learning online. Students are to log in to their homeroom advisory for class at 9:00. 
 
What does a Hybrid schedule at HArts look like?
  • Daily screening and weekly testing will be required for students and teachers
  • Students will come onto campus 2 times a week (Cohort Green - Tuesdays & Thursdays, Cohort Purple - Wednesdays & Fridays) and alternating Mondays.
  • Students will be assigned Cohort Green and Purple coming soon. 
  • Students will be assigned an Advisory teacher, they will report to that classroom and remain there to participate in distance learning from the classroom.
  • Once in their classrooms, they will login to Zoom or Schoology Conferences to attend class held by their teachers. They will not be traveling to other classrooms or receive in-person instruction from their teachers.
  • During Advisory time, the Advisory teacher will conduct in-person community building and social-emotional learning live with students. 
  • Students will complete coursework online and participate in independent work when not
    receiving direct instruction via Zoom or Schoology Conferences.

  • If families do not respond, then they will automatically be placed in Online-Only Model
  • Families that chose Hybrid can switch back to Online-Only at any time. Please inform the administration of your change. Families that are Online-Only may switch to Hybrid in May.
Q: What if I change my mind and want to switch my learning model (hybrid or online only)?
A: The parent or guardian must notify the school of the change by giving us a call or sending us an email.
 
Q: Can I bring my own device to school to Zoom?
A: Cell phones are not to be used as instructional devices. Students who bring electronic devices to school do so at their own risk. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones or electronic devices.
 
Q: Can we (students) use our phones?
A: Cell phones and other non-instructional electronic devices may ONLY be used after school. They must be turned off and remain out of sight at all times from the time the student enters campus. Failure to comply will result in the confiscation of the item. Students who bring cell phones or electronic devices to school do so at their own risk. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones or electronic devices.
 
Q: Can we (students) eat with our friends?
A: Students must remain in their Homeroom cohort's designated area during lunch and can only be with others in their cohort. They must remain 6-feet apart at all times.
 
Q: If we (students) are at school, do we have to have our camera on during Zoom?
A: Yes, students who are at school should have their cameras on during Zoom sessions unless special arrangements have been made between the child's parent and the teachers.
 
Q: Do we (students) need to follow the dress code?
A: Yes, all students returning to campus must follow the proper dress code at all times. This includes close-toed shoes, no hats, and no hoods. Please review the dress code before coming to school.
 
Q: Will we (students) be changing classes?
A: Students will remain in their Homeroom teacher's class all day during instructional time. They will Zoom to their classes from their Homeroom teacher's room.
 
Q: Will we (students) be able to play basketball or other sports during lunch?
A: In order to maintain the safety protocols, including social distancing and minimizing multi-touch surfaces, students will not be able to engage in outside activities during lunch.
 
Q: What happens if someone is not wearing a mask properly?
A: Staff will remind students to wear their mask properly at all times in compliance with their answers to the daily pass.
 
Q: What happens if a student feels ok in the morning, but then starts to not feel good later in the day?
A: Student will be escorted to the isolation area to wait for a parent/guardian to pick them up.
