ASB (Associated Student Body) is a Leadership class which gives students a chance to be a part of our school's many diverse events and to be apart of multiple groups which help to manage and maintain school spirit.
There are several committees within ASB that each perform unique roles in ensuring school events are unique, high quality, and appropriate. These committees are:
Character Counts
Fundraising
Historian
Media
Publicity
Student Affairs 1/2 (Split into two joint-committees)
As an ASB member, you have the opportunity to give your input and help improve HArts Academy as a whole. One of our main goals will always be giving the rest of the school a voice in organizing and helping with the many events ASB hosts. As such, any student at HArts has the ability to be a member of ASB.
In order to be a part of the ASB class and become an ASB Member, you must:
- Have at least a 2.75 GPA.
- Fill out an application which can be accessed digitally, see Mr. Bergstrom or any ASB Cabinet Member to find it for you.
- Each student who fills an application is interviewed if the current cabinet deems it appropriate and accepts it. If they pass the interview, they will be switched into the course, unless the student's schedule prevents it. See Ms. Salvatierra in K1 for more information regarding any concerns about potential scheduling limitations.
ASB meets during Period 4 with their advisor, Mr. Bergstrom, in K6/K7.
We offer student government positions which oversee our Leadership (ASB) class positions;
President - Leads meetings, represents the student body, and works with school staff to implement initiatives. Ensures all council activities align with school policies.
Vice President - Assists the president, steps in during their absence, and often oversees specific committees or projects. Helps coordinate council events and activities.
Treasurer - Manages the council's budget, tracks expenses, and handles fundraising efforts. Ensures transparent and accurate financial reporting.
Secretary - Takes detailed meeting minutes, maintains records, and handles council correspondence. Ensures effective communication within the council and with the student body.
Each of these positions will be available and every year new candidates run to be selected by students. To be selected as a grade-level officer in student government you must:
- Have at least a 2.75 GPA.
- Complete an application form which can also be found digitally. See any Historian members to request an application form.
- Campaign for your position after being approved by the Historian committee.
- Win the corresponding election and be sworn into office by Mr. Bergstrom.
Please note: ALL representatives of ASB will be held to high standards. Any student who cannot maintain good behavior or/and does not meet class requirements/expectations will be placed on academic probation until the aforementioned requirements is fulfilled. If they do not improve after the current 5-week period, the student may be removed from ASB and placed into a separate class entirely.
ASB is a great way to be involved and better our HArts community. Are you interested? Talk to Mr. Bergstrom or any one of our current members of ASB and they will give the proper steps in order to be a part of our leadership class.
